Johnson’s Great Outdoors Salmon Fishing Tournament

 Rules
1.    RULES AND RULE CHANGES. Interpretation of the rules will be to the discretion of the Tournament Director. The rules and the interpretations of them will be final and not open to protest. Safety rules may be changed at any time.
2.    SPORTSMANSHIP. Entrants must conduct themselves in a true sportsmanlike manner at all times. NO EXCEPTIONS. Courtesy and ethics of the highest standard are the norm, not the exception. Remember that you not only represent yourselves, but all tournament anglers and competitive fishing. Any rude or insulting type of behavior will be subject to disqualification or penalties enforced.
3.    PARTICIPATION. All local and state DNR rules apply. There is no limit to the number of persons on board, but each boat is limited to fishing with 9 rods. You are limited to 12 fish in the boat, weigh-in your best 9 fish.
4.    SAFETY. Each contestant is to follow all Coast Guard regulations.
5.    WAIVER AND HOLD HARMLESS. All contestants agree to hold harmless any and all promoters, tournament directors, agents, and Johnson’s Great Outdoors. Furthermore, all contestants agree to waiver all responsibility for death, injuries, damage, liability, theft, fire or loss of any kind to entrants.
6.    NO alcoholic beverages are permitted at the weigh in.
7.    REGISTRATION, CHECK IN, START TIME AND WEIGH IN.
•    Registration must be completed at Johnson’s Great Outdoors prior to 6:30 pm Friday August 1st.
•    Captain’s Meeting: A mandatory Captains meeting will be held at the the Montague Municipal Boat Launch on Friday August 1st at 7pm. At least one person from each boat must attend, no exceptions.
•    Boat Check: A boat check will be conducted from 5:30am to 6:00am at the north pier (Montague side).  Start time is 6:00am – wait for the horn to sound.
•    Channel Check-In: Boats must obtain a weigh-in chip from the chip boat just inside the White Lake Channel prior to 1pm. No Chip, no weigh-in. Details to be announced at the Captain’s meeting.
•    Weigh in is at 1pm at the Montague Municipal Boat Launch, you must be in line at 2 pm. Each boat can weigh in your 9 biggest fish out of a 12 fish limit . No weigh-ins prior to 1pm.
•    BONUS Fish:  10 lbs bonus for each Brown Trout, Steelhead, or Lake Trout. This bonus is limited to two fish (20 lb bonus).
•    Cook out:  A picnic will take place after the weigh in - hot dogs, hamburgers, chips and soda are provided.
All fish weighed in will be donated to the White Lake Area Sportfishing Association. WLASA works in cooperation with the DNR to plant fish in the area.

Annual Gary Johnson & Brian Waterman Memorial Steelhead Tournament

Where: Johnson’s Great Outdoors
Entry Fee: $15 per person, $30 two man team. Must sign up by 6pm Friday March 21

  • You may fish anywhere in Michigan as long as you are back by 4pm. You may start fishing at 12am.
  • $5 from each entry goes to Big Fish Payout.
  • Weigh-in will be at 4pm at Johnson’s Great Outdoors. If you are not there on time you will be disqualified.
  • Food and Door Prizes will follow weigh-in.
  • Teams will weigh 3 fish for biggest bag. 1st through 5th places paid.
  • Teams will also weigh their biggest fish for Big Fish.
  • All DQ’s will be made by a panel of at least 2 random people at weigh-in.

** We reserve the right for a panel to review and disqualify any suspicious activity
